The Question of You

"What if, someday, I did love you?" She did once ask.
Which he replied, "I could remove my humbling mask.
For when it is gone, I could be free,
As well as have someone to care for me."
"If that day were to come soon?"
"I would shine just as bright as the moon."
"If I never found myself able to love you?"
"Then you aren't the girl... who I thought I knew."
"And if I did say I love you now?"
"I would simply question you... how?"
She paused for a moment, then did say,
"There is just something special about you today."
"What if it is gone tomorrow?"
"Just be happy for today, and forget the sorrow."
"Let me ask before I forget,
Can I remove my mask just yet?"
"I'm not sure, just let me think."
She finally replied by shaking her head, then giving a wink.
