River With Two Sides

Edward (Main)
Sonja (Target of affection)
Cindy (Sonja's best friend)
Steven (Classmate)
Sara (Sonja's friend)
Chris (Classmate)
Mr. Souhait (Teacher)
Timothy (Sara's boy friend)
Jerry (Opener)

(Classroom setting. There are two long tables for the student's desks, stage right and left, and a large teacher's desk at the far back. Edward is sitting beside Steven and Chris on stage left's table. While Sonja, Cindy and Sara are on the stage right table. Mr. Souhait is standing center stage with Romeo and Juliet at hand)

Jerry:
With what shall happen later on. You shall be able to choose their fate. There are two endings to this play. You will get to choose one today. Now the question is, do you want a happy ending or a sad one? Well when the time comes forth, the question will come forth Please everyone answer it with a clear loud voice. So stay in chair chairs, and enjoy the show Lets hope you’ll enjoy the presentation

Mr. Souhait:
Now in today's society, no one has ever come close to matching the passion that these two people had. I doubt that anyone will be able to either. I feel that the most heart wrenching part is at the end, where the star-crossed lovers meet their ends.

Sonja:
Mr. Souhait, do you think that someone can find love in now?

Mr. Souhait:
It is possible, but I doubt it. You are all too young to really feel it, even you Sonja.

Steven: (Said a bit quietly)
He says that only because he could never find anyone. He'll still be reading these books without anyone to the end. All hail the man married to books. (Does a quick solute towards Mr. Souhait; the three girls snicker on the other side)

Edward:
Isn't it possible for someone to fall in love though? (Edward glances toward Sonja but no one else notices it)

Mr. Souhait:
Edward, it would only be puppy love, nothing more. (Edward sighs slightly, picks up his pen and starts to take notes)

Steven: (Quiet again)
All hail King lonely! (Another more noticeable group of snickers arise from across the room)

Mr. Souhait: (Looking right at Steven)
I guess your homework tonight shall be, write a short story about what you believe to be 'love' due at the end of the week. Next week we start poetry, my person favorite subject. For the rest of class, finish reading this play.

Steven:
Oh boy. Reading time. Can't wait to finish this crap chapter off. What about you Edward?

Edward:
Um, yes... this love crap is too sappy. (Said as if it was forced)

Chris:
This hillbilly crap should stop soon enough. Oh, thanks for the extra homework Steve. You know, some of us have a life.

Steven:
Chris, it's not my fault he heard me, I blame you!

Chris:
Why me?

Steven:
Because, you didn't stop me from saying it.

(Boys become silent, but look like they are still talking about something)

Sonja:
What do you think about this Cindy?

Cindy:
Doesn't matter what I think, because this is a bunch of crap.

Sara:
Hey, I like this, it's fantastic.

Cindy:
You're just saying that because you have a boyfriend.

Sara:
Even without one I would say it. Romance is great to have. It teaches men to treat us better. (All three girls laugh. This draws Chris's attention over to look at Sonja)

Cindy:
Sonja, don't look. He is watching you again.

Sonja:
He's doing that more and more everyday

Cindy:
Yes he does. Maybe you should talk to him, just get to know him better...

(Girls become silent and the Boys start talking again)

Edward: (Said to Steven)
What do you think of Sonja?

Steven: (Said to Edward)
She's okay.

Edward: (Said to Steven)
Is she seeing anyone?

Steven: (Said to Edward)
Uh, don't know, why not go and ask her?

Edward: (Said to Steven) That would be rude... and awkward. Maybe I should... I've been thinking about her for a while though. I even wrote a poem to her. I don't know if I should give it to her though.

Steven: (Said to Edward)
Do it man, you only live once... unless you believe in reincarnation, then you'll have many life times to do it. (Steven snickers)

Edward: (Said to Steven)
Fine then, I'll slip it into her bag at the end of class. Care you do something for me?

Steven: (Said to Edward)
What would that be?

Edward: (Said to Steven)
Distract her for a sec.

Steven: (Said to Edward)
Can and will be done.

(Bell rings)

Mr. Souhait:
Okay. I heard you talking, so I believe you have finished Romeo and Juliet. So we will have a little quiz tomorrow. (Everyone sighs loudly) Well, you’re all dismissed. (Rustle of books being put away, everyone’s but Sonja’s books are put away, while Edward palms the poem into his hand)

Edward:
Ready?

Steven:
What do you think?

(Everyone stands up, while the girls promptly go over to stage left, where the exit of the room is. The boys wait there awaiting the girls to come across the room. Steven 'Accidentally' walks into Sonja, where she then drops her books on the ground. Edward, Chris and Sonja kneel down to pick it up. Edward slips the poem into a larger pile of the paper. When everything seems to be back in the proper order, Chris grabs the book as they all stand up and hands it to Sonja. The girls then walk in front of the boys and then leave the room. A few seconds later, the boys follow. Edward turns around, walks to center stage and then recites the 'Apple' poem under a spotlight.)

Edward:
Resting in a tree branch, high in the air
You let loose and drop your golden hair
You caress an apple with your delicate fingertips
Bring it closer, and kiss it with your luscious lips
On the far right lies a Robin's nest
So soothing it allows the heart to rest
Morning dew rests upon on the rounded leaves
Dew that escaped from the sky, like a pack of thieves
You bite into the apple, which seems warm and sweet
Baring a large smile you happily do greet
You finish eating the very heart of the fruit
And I find this to be very cute
I know me saying this is long overdue
There are not enough beautiful words to describe you

(Lights go down for about one second, and then everyone is back at their desk. Sonja opens her notebook and finds the poem, which she promptly reads. After she reads it, she shows it to the other girls. About 5 seconds later, they all say 'Ahhh...')

Mr. Souhait:
(Walks over center stage and addresses the audience, as it was his class) Now class; continue working diligently on the assignment that I gave you yesterday. If you have any questions, do come up and ask me about them. (Give the audience a quick look over, then walks back to his desk)

(Sara and Cindy have their eyes on Sonja)

Sara:
Seems you have a secret admirer, and a good one at that. Writing poetry like that. It's beautiful.

Sonja:
What do you mean?

Cindy:
What do you think she means? She means someone likes you, and is very talented.

Sonja:
Yeah right, this letter just must have fallen into my book by accident

Cindy:
Right, of look, I think I dropped a love letter into someone else's book by accident. Look at me; I don't even know who this is supposed to go to.

Sonja:
So you’re saying that someone... someone likes me?

Cindy:
Without a doubt.

(All three girls giggle slightly)

Sonja:
Who... who do you think it is?

Cindy:
It’s Chris for sure, it's gotta be Chris. He has been looking at you for days now. And hey, he could have slipped it into your book yesterday when Steven knocked it out of your hands. He had it right?

Sonja:
Yes, yes he did.

Sara:
This is so cute. You would look great together.

Sonja:
You think so?

Cindy:
Yes, a perfect couple, even better then Sara and Timothy.

Sara:
Hey! Don't say that. (Sara takes a swat at Cindy, but misses)

Sonja:
You're not kidding are you?

Cindy:
Of course I am not kidding. You two would look great. (Cindy smiles, and then Sonja smiles as well)

Sonja:
Should I go and talk to him about this?

Cindy:
No, he put the poem in you book right? That means he’s going to come over and talk to you soon... right?

Sara:
For sure, I wish Kevin would do that for me, this poem is great.

Cindy:
Too bad Kevin is too thick huh?

Sara:
Why you... (Sara takes another swat at Cindy, and misses again)

Sonja:
Stop it you two before Mr. Souhait sees it.

(Girls talks starts to dim, while the boys (Edward and Steven) voices start to be heard)

Edward: (Towards Steven)
Look, she found the letter, and she keeps looking over her at us. Think she knows it was me?

Steven: (Towards Edward)
No doubt in my mind, I mean, who else here could have wrote it?

(Both look towards Chris and laugh slightly)

Steven: (Towards Edward)
Still using that old pen huh? It hasn't run out after the three years that you have used it

Edward: (Towards Steven)
I wrote that poem with it too. It's like God's gift.

Steven: (Towards Edward)
Well you keep using it, it seems to work well.

Edward: (Towards Steven)
Well anyway, I guess you're right, she knows it's mine. Finally all the guesswork has been laid out for me. For once, I catch a little break in life.

Steven: (Towards Edward)
You have certainly had this coming man. I mean it's grade 12, last year, and you haven't even had a girl yet. It's your time to get lucky buddddddy.

Edward: (Towards Steven)
I don't want to get lucky, that's not what this is about. I, I just want to be able talk to her... ask her how her day is going. Lean towards her, carry her books, hold her hand, touch her lips, run my hand through her hair, smile at her knowing that the feeling I have for her a returned. To know that when I go to school, I am needed by someone. I just want to be... wanted.

Steven: (Towards Edward)
Right that’s all a guy ever wants to do, we both know what you want do.

Edward: (Towards Steven)
All I want to do is to be able to see her wake up.

Steven: (Towards Edward)
To see that, you'd have to sleep with her.

Edward: (Towards Steven)
Or just to have her fall asleep in my arms in complete comfort. Having her rest her head on my shoulder. To hear her whisper my name like the wind. Letting her... trust me. Isn't that what everyone wants?

Mr. Souhait:
(Stands up and walks over to Edward and Steven) Could you please be quiet? Why can't you be more like Chris? See; look at him working hard on the assignment. If your not going to do the assignment, talk quieter. Whatever it is can wait till the end of class, which is only two minutes.

Both Edward and Steven:
Fine...

Edward:
Okay, we’ll be quiet till end of class.

(Mr. Souhait returns back to his desk with a pleased look on his face)

Edward: (Towards Steven)
Okay, can you deliver this on to her? I wrote it fresh this morning.

Steven: (Towards Edward)
And how am I supposed to do it?

Edward: (Towards Steven)
Right after class, just wait while the rest of us go... then place it on her desk, right where she sits.

Steven: (Towards Edward) Fine then, this is the last thing though.

(Bell sounds. Everyone starts putting their books in their bag. Chris and Edward walk off stage first. The girls look up at them and see that they are leaving. Upon seeing them leave, the three girls quickly follow. This leaves Steven and Mr. Souhait in the room alone. Steven stands up and starts to walk towards the girl's desk, but is then stopped by Mr. Souhait)

Mr. Souhait:
Oh Steven, do you need help with anything?

Steven: (Quickly turns away from the desk the and looks towards Mr. Souhait)
Um, no sir... well... no sir.

Mr. Souhait:
Okay then, just remember. I'm here if you need help.

Steven:
All right then.

(Spot light shines upstage and Steven walks into it. He takes out the poem and reads it)

A rose petal blizzard swirls around
So simple it's profound
It sings lightly with a humming sound
The blizzard stops, and the petals rest on the ground
I step past the ring of rose
The wind still lightly blows
Lights go out and everything glows
I step lightly on my toes
You appear and we walk hand in hand
Like a wish not a command
This scheme seemed well-planned
The one where we stand in pure white sand
You pucker your lips just enough
And I call your teasing bluff
I give you a kiss, one light and not rough
And your cheeks blush and puff

(Lights go back to normal, Steven folds the poem up again, places it on the desk and leaves. Lights go out for about two seconds, lights come up and everyone, but Chris, is in their seats. Chris isn’t in this scene)

Cindy:
The mad bomber strikes again.

Sonja:
Chris is so, so, so sweet.

Cindy:
Yes he is, this is so cool.

Sonja:
Now all I have to do is wait for him.

Sara:
Just go up and ask him, don't wait.

Sonja:
It will be sweeter if I wait till he asks me.

Sara:
Don't wait too long; he just might go for me.

(All three girls laugh)

Sonja:
Do you think that he will openly give me the next one?

Cindy:
It doesn't matter if he gives you it openly or not. We know it's him.

Sonja:
I like it more when he gives it to me in a secretive way, like he is now. It's more romantic. Hmm, I guess this is better then Romeo and Juliet.

Cindy:
Maybe because this is real.

(Girls continue to act like they are talking, but quiet down.)

Edward:
Look how happy she is, this is working out perfectly.

Steven:
Go you. Heh, like I care.

Edward:
Hey shut up jackass.

Steven:
Why did the chicken cross the road? (Pause) So he could get the hell away from you.

Edward:
Hey, screw you.

(Both laugh slightly, Mr. Souhait stands up and say looks down at them till they stop. He then sits back down.)

Edward:
Okay, I got someone to deliver the next one tomorrow since you’re too chicken to do it.

Steven:
Look who is calling whom a chicken? I'm not the one who needs someone else to do my work.

Edward:
Yeah, like me doing your math homework.

Steven:
Oh, right... well I wouldn't need it if you just left me alone in class.

Edward:
Hey, you sit beside me everyday, not my fault that you need to talk.

(Both laugh again. Mr. Souhait stands up walks over to them and looks right down at them, holding a piece of chalk)

Mr. Souhait: (Pointing the chalk at them)
You know the rules, out! I told you once before, and now you guys get the boot. Hit the road till tomorrow. And take your attitude with you.

(Edward and Steven bow their heads, start packing up their books, and then leave.)

Steven: (Just before leaving says) Jackass!

(Chalk in Mr. Souhait's hand breaks and falls to the ground.)

Mr. Souhait:
Jackass eh. I guess he needs more homework.

(Lights go out for a few seconds. Only person on stage is Mr. Souhait when the lights come back up. About two seconds later Cindy enters. Cindy starts walking over to her desk and sees another small piece of paper. As she walks over to it, but before she can read it Mr. Souhait begins to talk)

Mr. Souhait:
Cindy, on time like usual. I wish the rest of my students had that ability.

Cindy:
(Turns towards Mr. Souhait)
Why thank you. I guess I just like this class, which is why I'm always her on time.

Mr. Souhait:
Thank you for liking my class. How would you rate it Cindy?

Cindy:
Everything is great, from the your teaching, to the homework that you give us.

Mr. Souhait:
Well... it should be good, I've been teaching for 22 years. I know a thing or two about putting a good class together.

Cindy:
You sure do, I should sit. They're coming soon.

(Cindy walks over to her desk, looks down at the poem, and begins to read it. Before she reads, spotlight goes onto her.)

Cindy:
It's 2:31...
I think I'm done
I'm ready to sleep
The thoughts of you I shall keep
The clock is at 2:32
All I can think of is you
The time continues to tick away
But my mind doesn't run a stray
At this time what is though and what is dream is unknown
But it still keeps its pleasant tone
And now it's 2:33
I think oh what should happen, and what should be
I think more of you my love
And how it flies like a dove
Finally it's 2:35
The thoughts still thrive
I toss and turn one more time
Beginning to think of the morning chime
And in my sleep the thoughts continue, growing like a vine
But these thoughts at least... are mine

(Cindy pauses for a moment and then Chris enters. Chris walks over to his table and places his bag down. On hearing this Cindy turns around to see him. Cindy crosses the stage and meets up on the opposite side of the table)

Cindy:
I know I shouldn't be saying this... but do you like Sonja?

(Short pause)

Chris:
I see that you have noticed. Um, what just tipped you off?

Cindy:
Well when you stare at her for half the class each day, you kinda pick that up.

Chris:
Oh, so then you saw me eh? Does Sonja know?

Cindy:
Of course she knows. She isn't blind or anything. Just don't screw things up, you two would look great together. Keep it up with those great poems.

Chris:
Poems?

Cindy:
Yes, the poems that she has been getting lately. Keep them up.

(Pause)

Chris:
Yes, I'll keep writing those poems...

Cindy:
And I've seen that it's been getting a little harder to get the poems to her. I'll tell you what, you give them to me, and I'll make sure she gets them. Okay?

Chris:
Oh okay... but will you read it before you give it to her?

Cindy: (Walks over to Chris and leans against him)
Not unless you would like me too.

Chris:
Well maybe the next poem won't be for her...(Smiles)

(Sonja and Sara enter, followed by Edward and Steven. Chris and Cindy continue to look at each other for a moment, then walk back, and sit in their desks. Chris takes out his book, and starts to write.)

Steven:
What did you do last night Eddy?

Edward:
Edward... just Edward, you know that.

Steven:
Yes... just pissing you off. Okay, Sir Edward the first, what doth yee do yester evening?

Edward:
Funny.... Just more of the regular stuff... you know, um nothing.

Steven:
And this nothing yee speaks of, what does it consist of?

Edward:
First off, stop with the English ascent... secondly, nothing means... sitting in my room, twiddling my thumbs.

Steven:
Least you weren't twiddling something else... like me.

Edward:
Like... you do every night?

Steven:
What... you don't? I could come over and show you how. (Steven smirks)

Edward:
Well... I'll stick to my thumbs for now. Besides, I wouldn't want to get in your way... all two inches and all.

Steven:
Hey, you peeked... and I thought you were going after Sonja and not me?

Edward:
Err...

Chris:
Can you two shut up? I have to write something.

Steven:
Fine...

Mr. Souhait:
Short class today... just continue with your work. If you need any help at all, don't be shy, and do ask.

(Mr. Souhait walks up to center stage, spot light on him and lights fade upon everyone else)

You are like the Prince of Fools or the eyes of the blind
While I can see which you see not
I sit watch back from my desk, which I'm behind
Seeing your business which you sell, and I have bought
You don't see that I am there
You don't think I'm anywhere
You continue to work as a dog should
While I hide behind my cloak of wood
Omniscience I am, too bad you don't see
Why don't you think that I'm not here, that I do not be?

(Mr. Souhait walks back and sits down at his desk, as the others continue to work)

Sara:
I don't want to do any more work. (Snotty voice)

Cindy:
Like you ever did work at all.

Sara:
I've always done more work then you. Boyfriends aren't just coats you know, it's hard work. (Pouts)

Cindy:
You... work with him? What kind of (quotes) "work" do you do? Sara:
Well... (Pause) We have to try to see each other every day. Then we must try and get a few kisses in.

Cindy:
Only kisses?

Sara:
Well only so far. I want to take it a little farther... but for some reason he doesn't want to.

Cindy:
Hmm... Reasons not to sleep with you. One, you're ugly. Two, annoying voice. Three... (Cut off)

Sara:
Hey! Since when did this become a witch-hunt? If you want to be all high on yourself... why don't you get a boyfriend, instead of judging me because you don't have one.

Cindy:
Well... I just haven't... met the right person.

Sara:
Or you're the ugly one. Perhaps it's your squeaky voice that is driving them all away.

Cindy:
Maybe it's your smell around them, that is making them lose their mind and senses

Sara:
Maybe it's just that you are just a doll. No brain, but there is a body.

(Sonja breaks out with a laugh, loud enough to catch the eyes of Mr. Souhiat. She turns and looks, and then lowers her head. The other two follow suit.)

Chris:
Damn it... I need a pen... and quick. (Chris reaches over and takes the pen which Edward has) Thanks man.

Edward:
Hey! I need that pen.

Chris:
Not as much as I need it. You'll just waste it on homework. Wait till you get home before doing that.

Edward:
And what will you be doing Chris?

Chris:
Well... just... something. It doesn't concern you.

Edward:
My pen... so it does.

(Mr. Souhait turns towards them too)

Mr. Souhait:
Ladies... all of you quit your nattering, and get to work.

Steven:
(Stands up and solutes) Yes all mighty sir!

Mr. Souhait:
That means Chris... that you want to go to the office?

Steven:
Better then staying here.

Mr. Souhait:
Then maybe it's a better punishment to stay here.

Steven:
Well... the... office sounds worse...

Mr. Souhait:
Well too bad you're staying here.

Steven:
(Sits back down) You've won this round Bond...

Edward:
And all the others.

Steven:
Oh shut up.

(Edward just laughs and the bell rings. Edward removes a piece of folded paper from his binder, and turns to Steven)

Edward:
Today's my day to shine.

Steven:
Well don't let the sun glare at me.

(Chris puts down the pen, and walks over towards Sonja, stops centre stage, where a spot light forms on him)

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Because you are a cute chick
I write these poems to you
Because you have a great face
You are the one who I chase

(Sonja stands up, and walks over to him, noticing the paper)

Chris:
I made this for you Sonja. I hope you'll like it.

Sonja:
Of course I'll like it. I liked the others.

(They hold hands and walk of stage. After passing Edward, both Edward and Steven stand up. Edward lashes out towards him, but Steven pulls him back before he does anything too big to notice. The rest of the girls follow suit.)

Edward:
That prick! He... he's taking credit for my work. He stole them. I did them. Why the hell is he walking with her? I'm the one. I... should be... the one.

Steven:
As I see it... you have three options. Number one being, you go out there, and cold cock the guy. Two being... well you... let him have her. Third is... well... you out do him.

Edward:
Out do him?

Steven:
Well isn't she expecting him to write her more poems?

Edward:
Well... yeah.

Steven:
Wouldn't she find it funny if she got two poems tomorrow?

Edward:
Only if she had them both at the same time

Steven:
Well isn't tomorrow your time to strike?

Edward:
Let us hope so...

(They freeze for a moment, and then walk off. Choices are to either remove the tables, pretend they aren't there, or put a curtain in front of them. Next Sara and Timothy enter)

Sara:
Timothy... it's cold out here.

Timothy:
I told you to bring a jacket.

Sara:
Well... at least I've got you to keep me warm. (She wraps her arm around him, while he smirks)

Timothy:
Well then... I'm glad you didn't bring a jacket. Other wise you wouldn't have me right here to be close to.

Sara:
That's why I like you. You're always so cute... so nice.... (They both lean in for a light kiss)

Timothy:
Nice... (Softly)

Sara:
Of course it's nice... right? Why wouldn't it be nice?

Timothy:
Well... you're cold right? I just thought it might of changed things. Maybe you wouldn't of kissed me.

Sara:
(Slightly offended) Why wouldn't I kiss you still? Just as much as before? I mean... I love you after all. Just like how you love me.

Timothy:
(Slightly belated) Of course...

Sara:
You... love... me right?

Timothy:
It's not that I don't.... it's just that... well I care for you.

Sara:
You only care for me? You... don't... love me?

Timothy:
Sure I do... I just love you in a different way.

Sara:
Like a brother sister way?

Timothy:
Well... yes.

Sara:
Then why did you go and kiss your sister with tongue?

(Timothy stands there quietly for a moment, and then she storms off. He follows after a moment. Short pause before Edward enters from the left side, and Chris enters from the right side. The both stop at centre stage)

Steven:
Now why did you have to call me out here?

Edward:
Well... I'm having second thoughts. I don't want to get her hurt. I want her to be okay.

Steven:
But do you want to be with her?

Edward:
Of course I do. I would love to be with her.

Steven:
Then you have to venture forth and go with her.

Edward:
What if I hurt her in the process?

Steven:
Right now... do you have any chance of getting her?

Edward:
Other then this... no.

Steven: Well rise up against a sea of troubles.

Edward:
In hopes to end them right?

Steven:
No... In hopes of getting her. Like you said before, that is what you want. (Edward nods) Well best to place your actions together. How are you going to get the poem to her?

Edward:
When Mr. Souhait (Upon hearing the name, Steven turns his head and spits) calls forth the Love assignment. When we are all handing those papers in, well... I'll slip it on her desk. It would work out better if well... Chris also brought a poem. If he doesn't... I hope she will be able to tell the difference between my poems... and his.

Steven:
Well let’s hope this works then.

(Both pause, and the others walk out. It returns to a school setting. Each returns to their seats. Sara seems to be almost to the point of tears, perhaps a few on her cheek. Chris and Sonja should looks quite happy, while Edward and Steven should have an eviler look on their face)

Edward:
Now it's my time to shine.

(Timothy walks out in front, and looks to the audience)

Timothy:
I need not choose the ending for you
For that is only for you have to do
Voice your opinions of what you want first
That may just fill your heart though its cursed
Say weither good or bad
One shall be happy... and one shall be sad
So speak your mind so that we should know
What is the way that you wish to go

(He should take a verbal count of who wants what. If the people directly choose one side, let that one come first. If it can't be made out which one is better... allow the sad ending to come first. From there he should walk to the side of the stage, but not off of it)

Sad Ending

Mr. Souhait:
Could you please hand in the project that I assigned you last week? The one with the subject being on love.

Sara:
Where do you want it?

Mr. Souhait:
On my desk please.

(Should be a low level of talking from each person. Edward hands his paper to Steven, while he starts to walk over to the other side with a piece of paper in hand. He steps up to center stage before delivering it. It may or may not be opened for them to read it off the page)

Edward:
On your lips of gold
I was sold
With your eyes so deep
Into them I did seep
Gazing upon your cute little ear
It proved to me that I was truly here
This wasn’t a dream
It is as real as a sunbeam
As it did seem like I loved you
You said "No!" and my heart turned blue
At first my heart did flew
Now I don’t know what to do
I am the poet that no one knew
I believe this is the last poem I give to you
Please forgive me for what I did
Revealing the feeling for you, that I hid
If you don’t want me to write
Stand up and do recite
"I know you have feelings for me,
We just must let them be."
On hearing this, my heart maybe filled with sorrow
But it shall be stopped as of tomorrow
Then I’ll drift into darkness once again
From you I shall then abstain
If that is said, it may leave a scar
But I just want to know what your feelings are

(He then folds up the paper, if he chose to read from it, then continues to walk over to her seat. There he places it down, and walks back to his own, while the rest of the class finishes handing theirs in, and sits down. She notices the poem that was just delivered to her opens it up and reads. The class becomes silent, and then she stands up. She may have a tear trailing out of her eye at this point)

Sonja:
I know you have feelings for me.... We... we... we... just... must let them be.

(Edward should lower his head and turn it away. It should be held for a moment, then lights should go down and Timothy should walk to centre stage, with another spotlight. Next spot is if it did go first.)

Timothy:
Now with the sad ending seen
Do you think that should of been?
Perhaps it would be best
For the last one to be a test
And now for the happier one
Let us hope this one... you shall not shun

Happy Ending

(Note if this one does come second, do not pause to say the poem. Though continue on as, if it goes first)

Mr.

Sonja:
If the poem isn't from Chris... who else... could it be from. Steven couldn't just be the one... Edward? It's Edward? He... loves me? How could this be? (She lowers her head for a moment) He... loves me.

(She looks up and smiles, then looks over to Edward who is looking over at her. They both stand up and walk over to the centre of the stage, and give each other a long kiss, and then they pause. Timothy walks back out and in front of them. If this is the first one that was chosen allow the next passage to be said)

Timothy:
And so love blossomed in there eyes
And their hearts rose to the depth of the skies
One thing is still troubling though...
What if the other way... they should go.

(If it was the second ending...)

I need not choose the ending for you
For that is only for you have to do
Voice your opinions of what you want first
That may just fill your heart though its cursed
Say weither good or bad
One shall be happy... and one shall be sad
So speak your mind so that we should know
What is the way that you wish to go?
